Introduction
Securus is a non-profit, youth-led organization that aims to promote mental health awareness, acceptance, and safe spaces for all. Securus in Latin means 'safe' which reflects our organization’s high regard for mental health, or the health and safety of the soul. We wish to educate not only the youth but everyone about how to make safe spaces for those who need them.
Our logo is a snake coiled around an arm with its head nestled in the hand. This is the symbol of the Roman goddess Salus, and her Greek counterpart, Hygieia, the goddesses of safety. The arm represents solidarity between our members and those who seek our aid. The snake represents the misunderstanding that constricts us from being able to support and be understanding with everyone. With the outstretched palm, we aim to guide these people towards becoming better-equipped members of society to provide safe spaces and acceptance.
The organization considers mental health to be one of the most important facets of life. We believe that without a society that talks about mental health openly and positively, discrimination and hate will always be a factor. No one can function properly or optimally without a solid foundation of mental health.
Our Mission
Using a messaging platform, Securus will foster a community of like-minded individuals who see the importance of acceptance and producing safe spaces for all. While not being mental health professionals, the organization aims to provide comfort and lend an ear to those who need it through sanctioned members (or helpers) in the organization. Those who join the platform do not need to be members to ask for help, and anonymity is welcome but not required.
Through our publication materials posted on our social media, Securus aims to inform people about many different problems that many do not notice how we treat mental health today. It is in the organization’s collective point of view that misinformation or misunderstanding breeds hate.
Our Vision
Securus hopes to become a haven for anyone who requires one. If required, the organization will recommend professional help from licensed mental health professionals. The organization will not limit the platform to merely just being a place to voice out problems, but also a community where friends are made, bonds are formed between persons, and where individual creations and interests can be shared.
The organization aspires to educate those unaware of topics related to mental health and teach others how to better deal with their friends or acquaintances who are going through hard times, isolated, or who have mental illnesses.

SpeCope: Staying Connected
SpeCope: Staying Connected is a project to officially launch and open the organization’s Discord server to the public. Securus aims to provide spaces for everyone that will be conducted through Discord, consisting of different channels to provide comfort and assistance to those who may need it. This project will consist of activities and events to introduce the server such as a website landing page, Instagram games, a Spotify playlist, a freedom wall, and more. Through SpeCope: Staying Connected, Securus aims to introduce the essence of the organization by creating and being a safe space for everyone.
The project is entitled SpeCope: Staying Connected as Securus wishes to give hope of success in coping with various daily activities. Through this server, we aim to provide a space where people from different places are able to connect with each other and get through difficult times.
Why we chose a project like SpeCope

What can you do at the Server?
In the discord server, you can just hang out and talk about your interests, share your creations, share your passions with other people, as well as seek help from the helpers or anyone else willing to lend an ear. Not only do we want to make the server a place for people to come for their problems, but also just a general hangout server
The "Helper" Role
Helpers are people on the server that we give a role. They are screened by logistics and sanctioned by the organization. Anyone can become a helper if they apply even if they are not in the organization.
A helper is someone that is given a role in the discord server. The moderators determine who is applicable to become a helper by giving a questionnaire they will have to answer then dm to a moderator of the server. Anyone can become a helper, in or out of the org.
